What equipment do I need to bring with me to play bowls?

You can hire shoes and woods on site for a small fee, or you are welcome to bring your own equipment.

Is there a dress code?

There is no actual dress code, but preferably players will be wearing greys.

What type of competitions do you run? (singles / pairs / fours)

We mainly offer fours competitions.
However at Gunton Hall there are a small number of pairs competitions on offer.

I would like to see an overview of all bowls breaks available – where can I find this?

Are there discounts if we bring our whole club as a group?

Yes – discounts are available via our groups dept. Depending on the size of your group and our current availability there are many benefits to booking as a group. Click here for further information.

Can I book a bowls competition package on arrival?

There is a possibility of purchasing the bowls package on arrival, but this is based on availability. Therefore we would strongly advise you pre book your bowls competition entry with your holiday.

How does the Warner Champion of Champions competition run?

This is Warners Leisure Hotels in house competition which has heats throughout the season at the four bowls centres.
Participants will have 3 games guaranteed followed by a knockout stage. The winning four / pair receive a small prize and an entry form to return to Lakeside for the finals the following October at a discounted rate to compete to win a share of £6000 prize money and the title of ‘Champions of Champions’.

What prizes are available in competitions?

These vary depending on the competition you have entered. Champion of champions – small prize and chance to return to compete for a share of £6000 prize fund.
Play to win a holiday – Warner short break voucher
Bowls bonanza – Cash prizes.

Is there practise time before games?

Yes, players will normally have practise time before each game begins, although this time will be determined by the number of players. Arrive early to make the most of your time!

Are spectators allowed while a bowls competition is taking place?

Yes, any Warner resident can spectate while competitions are taking place.

I want to play bowls casually, not in a competition. Can I do this?

Yes you can, during the bowls season there will be limited times when bowls can be played casually, but this will be subject to the numbers entering competitons. You will usually find there are a couple of hours per day when you can use the greens on a casual basis. Please check with the bowls manager for times and availability on arrival.

I’ve booked to play in a competition - how do I find out my times of play?

Please visit the bowls hall on your arrival and the bowls manager will advise you about specifics for your times of play.
